Oak Grove Fire: Wildfire continues to burn in San Marcos

The fire has burned about 100 acres and some homes are being evacuated. FOX 7 Austin's Tan Radford has the latest details.

The Hays County Office of Emergency Management says that crews are battling the Oak Grove Fire in San Marcos. The wildfire was previously called the Fox Fire,

The fire is estimated to be about 300 acres and is 10% contained as of about 9 p.m. on August 5.

Officials say that crews were called to incident in the 200 block of Oak Grove Road at around 3 p.m.

The fire has reportedly now jumped across the Blanco River and is now actively burning on the north side.

The Hays County WIldland Task Force is also responding, and air assets were as well.

Texas A&M Forest Service says that forward progression has stopped and dozers continue work along the right flank of the fire while hand crews work along the left flank.

Officials say engine crews remain engaged in structure protection.

Officials say some homes are being evacuated in a rural neighborhood west of Kyle.

The Promised Land Church is open as a temporary shelter. It's located at 1650 Lime Kiln Road in San Marcos.
