Rainy Start to the Week, but Drying out in Time for the Fourth of July!
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - We are waking up to partly cloudy skies this morning, but clouds will begin to break, leaving us with plenty of peeks of sunshine to enjoy the start of your Sunday. Low temperatures across the valley are sitting in the upper 60s to low 70s, bringing a nice, mild start to the day. Come afternoon, we will warm right back up to the low 90s. As we warm up, daytime heating will once again provide fuel for some afternoon pop-up storms to initiate. Much like the weather we had yesterday, we will get to enjoy a sunny start to the day before isolated to scattered showers come into the forecast during the later hours of the day. This pattern will continue over the next few days because of a warm, moist airmass sitting over the Southeast, providing a good environment for storms to develop. Some isolated storms could be stronger than others, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. The good news about the rain is that it will help cool our high temperatures down to the upper 80s from Monday into Wednesday. Enjoy the break from the heat while you can because by Thursday, a “cold” front will move through, drying us out and rebounding our temperatures to the 90s. This dry pattern comes just in time for any Fourth of July festivities. Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, we are tracking a drier and warmer pattern for you, but will keep you updated on the details as we get closer.
